Oracle Cloud Hardware Exec Departs

Scott Genereux, an Oracle senior vice president in charge of hardware sales in North America, recently left the company, said two people with knowledge of the matter. He will join storage vendor Veritas Technologies later this month as executive vice president of worldwide field operations, a Veritas spokeswoman said.

Mr. Genereux, who joined Oracle in 2012, was one of the Oracle’s top hardware executives in the U.S. His departure from Oracle comes amid ongoing weakness in Oracle’s hardware business.

Hardware revenues have declined over the past several quarters as more companies move their computing and storage to public clouds such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. Oracle’s hardware unit generated about 13% of the company’s overall revenue in 2016.

An Oracle spokeswoman declined to comment on Mr. Genereux’s departure. Mr. Genereux didn’t respond to an email requesting comment.
