The Information is thrilled to announce a new partnership with All Star Code, a non-profit that trains young men of color in computer science, to expand the diversity of our staff. As part of the agreement:
- The Information is creating an annual internship for alumni of All Star Code to work full-time on our engineering team, starting in 2018
- All Star Code founder and Executive Director Christina Lewis Halpern is joining The Information advisory group to advise about how we can continue to make sure to expand the diversity of our team and to share best practices around how others in tech can as well
- The Information is giving free The Information subscriptions to all All Star Code participants and staff, good for five years
- The Information and All Star Code is preparing to collaborate on future content and events around diversity in tech
“I’ve been an advisor to All Star Code since its inception in 2013 and I am thrilled to deepen our partnership but working together to create jobs for young people of color in tech. As a small startup, we have come a long way in expanding the diversity of our team. We still have work still to do, and I can’t wait to welcome the first ASC interns this summer.”—Jessica Lessin, founder, The Information
“Having been an Information subscriber from the very beginning I have learned much from their original reporting and admired their consistent commitment to racial and ethnic diversity and social justice. We are honored to have the opportunity to share our insights about building a technical talent pipeline with the tech community and connecting our talented young men to this fantastic work experience.” —Christina Lewis Halpern, Founder & CEO, All Star Code
