More Details Surface on Amazon’s ‘Low-Code’ App Building Service

Amazon’s cloud unit, Amazon Web Services, has around 50 engineers working on a new service that will let non-developers build business applications, according to this report from GeekWire, which builds on our reporting on the topic last January. AWS employees have referenced the name “AWS For Everyone” on LinkedIn and in a presentation at the cloud unit’s annual customer conference in November, suggesting the service is moving closer to completion.

The new service AWS is building is known as a “low-code” or “no code” development platform. The concept has been around for decades but hasn’t yet taken off commercially. The new service shows how AWS, having cemented its domination of the market for simple services like cloud servers and storage, is moving into more sophisticated offerings which generate more profit.
