We often get asked how we put together The Information 50, our annual list of the 50 most promising early-stage startups. Join our reporters, Executive Editor Amir Efrati and Senior Editor Scott Thurm as they take you inside the reporting process and share some of the conclusions and insights they gathered from this year’s cohort. The third edition of The Information’s 50 most promising startups looked for the next big winners in artificial intelligence and enterprise software, social apps, commerce, media, security, cryptocurrency, and financial software. Our reporters selected startups they believed had the potential to be the most valuable businesses in their categories based on their revenue, business model and growth prospects. We only included companies that had raised less than $100 million or were less than two years old, and we excluded firms that had a valuation of $1 billion or higher.
