Meta and Nvidia Renew Their Vows

By Martin Peers · Feb 17, 2026 5:00pm PST
Take that, Sundar Pichai! Three months after we scooped news that Meta Platforms was in talks to spend billions on Google AI chips—known as tensor processing units—for its data centers, Meta and Nvidia unveiled an expanded “multiyear, multigenerational strategic partnership.” Meta is a longtime Nvidia customer, of course, but it is recommitting... How the Architect of California’s Billionaire Tax Became Tech’s Villain

By Eli Rosenberg · Feb 6, 2026 11:04am PST · 4 comments
Around the time he filed the billionaire tax proposal that has shaken up the tech world and ignited a debate about wealth taxes nationwide, Dave Regan, president of the California-based union behind the effort, convened a group of fellow labor leaders to solicit their thoughts. In a videoconference, he told the group he had a 30-day... Around the time he filed the billionaire tax proposal that has shaken up the tech world...

OpenAI Seeks Premium Prices in Early Ads Push

By Ann Gehan and Catherine Perloff · Jan 26, 2026 6:00am PST · 1 comment
In its initial rollout of ads, OpenAI is charging prices that rival those for coveted video programs like the NFL, and well above what rivals such as Meta Platforms’ social media apps charge. But unlike Meta or Google, OpenAI won’t be providing detailed information about the query responses accompanying their ads or whether ads prompted ChatGPT... Oracle Should (but Likely Won’t) Cut Its Dividend

By Martin Peers · Jan 21, 2026 5:00pm PST
Here’s a question: How much are big tech companies cutting back on sending money to shareholders as they ramp up their AI development spending? It’s a good time to ask: On Friday, Oracle is due to pay out its latest quarterly dividend of 50 cents a share. That will amount to $1.4 billion going out the door, which Oracle can ill afford. After... Here’s a question: How much are big tech companies cutting back on sending money to shareholders...

Andy Jassy in Davos; Netflix’s Q4

By Jessica E. Lessin · Jan 20, 2026 5:00pm PST
My second day in Davos began way too early—in a sit-down with Amazon CEO Andy Jassy for The Information’s TITV. It has been two years and three months since I last sat down with Jassy in Seattle. While he’s always calm and measured—and, for what it is worth, he’s one of the nicest people to interview—one could sense a little defensiveness... Tech at Davos; Netflix and Intel Earnings on Deck This Week

By Martin Peers · Jan 19, 2026 3:00pm PST
We have a change of pace this week after the AI dramas of the past few days.
