Laura Mandaro is The Information's managing editor of news and talent. Laura joined The Information in 2020 as a senior editor and has managed a team of reporters focused on venture capital and startups who won SABEW awards in 2023, 2022 and 2021 for their reporting on the fundamental changes sweeping the industry, from the rise of hedge funds to the artificial intelligence explosion. Before joining The Information, she was San Francisco bureau chief for Forbes, where she managed a team of technology, venture capital and future-of-industry reporters. Previously, she was a technology and national editor at USA TODAY in San Francisco. She spent seven years at Dow Jones/MarketWatch, eventually leading the markets and investing reporters, where she was an editor on a SABEW-award winning series on gold. She started her career at American Banker in New York City.

In our creator economy newsletter, Mahira postulated Instagram Maps feature would be a challenge to Google search, which a senior Google exec's comments at an Aspen conference seemed to back up. Instagram head Adam Mosseri disagrees, writing, "Suggesting the new map feature on Instagram is a “challenge to Google” is a gross exaggeration." Thoughts?
